Benny Voncken is a writer, speaker, Stoic life coach, and a practicing Stoic. He grew up in a village in the Netherlands but has become a world traveler. His mission is to inspire and guide people to find their authentic and inner selves. Most recently, he taught the Stoic Week at the ISVW.nl in the Netherlands.

What Seneca said here is not only that we all have our obstacles, but that we should welcome them. We can’t test our training and who we are, unless we face our challenges. Having overcome my personal difficulties, I can use these experiences to your advantage. One of the big ones was quitting alcohol and staying sober for many years now. Instead of ignoring these problems and causes for anxiety, I faced them head-on and used the Stoic teachings to my benefit. And this same ancient knowledge is waiting for you.

It is not only my training and experience as a life coach that are available to you but my understanding and application of the Stoic philosophy are added for free. To go the extra mile, I’m expanding my knowledge by taking cognitive behavior therapy courses to give you the best coaching services. On top of all that, my decade of having worked as a teacher has prepared me to deal with any kind of situation and adapt myself to the student, or in this case, you.
Practical Stoicism for Better Living
What can Stoicism add to your life and your coaching journey? This ancient philosophy, which has proven itself for almost 2000 years, offers us great insights into the human mind and nature. Central to this school of thought is the application of its teachings. Which are focused on Virtue and living in accordance with nature. While we base our coaching on Stoicism, we are not here to turn you into Stoics. But by looking at what is under our control. By examining our wants, desires, and aversions, preparing for eventualities, and all this focus on living in the present, we can find peace of mind and learn to live a good life.

As the architect of my own life, so are you of yours. My vision is a life of peace even with the obstacles we face in life. This, as I have learned, can be achieved by doing our best in everything we do. Being mindful in the moment and trying to evaluate everything that happens with reason and logic. The ability to do all this starts with understanding who we are. Exploring our emotions to learn what they tell us about ourselves.
