On this journey, we all need a moment for ourselves.

The Pause by Via Stoica

Breathe in, Breathe out.

Say out loud (or in your head) something you’re grateful for…
Bonus if you tell the person next to you.

Find Alignment with Yourself

“For it is you who know yourself, and what value you set upon yourself, and at what rate you sell yourself.”

Epictetus, The Discourses, Book 1, Chapter 2.11

Halfway through the year, most New Year’s resolutions are long forgotten. The chaos of daily life has caught up with us. Some of us are trying to escape it on holiday. Others are getting ready to return to work. And some haven’t even had the chance to step out of the mundane at all.

That’s why, especially now, it’s so important to pause and reflect on who you are.

In the rush to keep up with life, it’s easy to get pulled away by external demands, to forget your deeper values. When that happens, we make choices that don’t align with who we are. We start to sell ourselves short.

Take a moment this month to check in with yourself. Ask:

  • Who am I doing this for?
  • What am I really trying to achieve?
  • What part of myself do I need to sacrifice for this?
  • How would I feel if this weren’t necessary?

Use your inner voice as a guide. The more calm and grounded the answer feels, the more likely it’s aligned with who you truly are.

Stoic Meditation

Find a quiet place to sit, preferably somewhere outside, and ask yourself this question:

How aligned am I with myself?

Stoicism and Emotion – The Deep Dive it Deserves

Stoicism and Emotion by Margaret Graver is one of the most important works in the modern Stoic library. It explores what ancient Stoics really believed about emotions — not as something to suppress, but as something to understand, shape, and live with wisely.

What is Eudaimonia?

What is Eudaimonia? Eudaimonia is "the state of being in good spirit" or "the condition of living in alignment with one's true nature."

Eudaimonia means more than happiness; it means living in good spirit or good character. It’s about becoming the best version of yourself through virtue and reason.
